Overview

Outside the community of Korakou, within the deserted village of Agroladou, stands a church which is dedicated to Saint Barbara. Dating as far back as the 16th century, it is a single-aisled, timber-roofed church built with irregularly shaped stones found locally. The church is a simplistic and rectangular building comprising of a nave and a sanctuary. The sanctuary is partitioned from the nave by a simple wooden iconostasis decorated by a few icons. The church is under the care of the Department of Antiquities, which undertook its conservation in 2002. The Church was built in the style of the 15th and 19th century churches common along the mountain range surrounding the Troodos Mountains.
